Whether it is inter-cultural, inter-religious, inter-community or inter-individual dialogue
the key word for me is “dialogue”. This is the ability of people to be partners in communication.
And it is more than to communicate – this is to gain an insight into someone's soul and
reveal your own. Dialogue means maturity of the individual and the society. To achieve that
one should be educated from an early age – at home, school, by the social environment. Dialogue
either exists in all our life or it adapts to a particular situation.

A beautiful word to use, maybe the word of the year, decade or even century? However, who
gets involved actually apprehends that its harder than it seems in the first place. Take the
matter and rise to a challenge to overcome ones own prejudiced ideas opens the door to a new
platform. We as performers on this daily stage becomes more tangible to ourselves and our sorroundings.

At least for me, the intercultural dialogue is a symbol of the contemporary world, where we
could hardly talk about a (national) mono-culture surrounded by variety of small or sub-cultures.
Thus, the intercultural dialogue is the dialogue between the multitude of cultures, which
co-exist and co-influence each other in our societies. Moreover, I have in mind not only the
ethnic or religious cultures, but also youth cultures, cultures from the suburbs, may be even
the cultures of the people with disabilities. . .

We are conscious that intercultural dialogue is an important element for the integration of
the communities, and I think that as a citizens, we are responsible of recognizing our culture
as much as the other one, and to respect them by similar and different that they seem to us.

In dialogue we live. When we decide consciously how we desire to live our relationship to
dialogue is determined. Openness, invitation, inquiry are the pieces we easily name. But sincerely
the test is in the times of difficulty. . . when our identities and convictions are contested,
when we are afraid, insecure, uncertain, challenged. At that point intercultural dialogue
means being prepared and willing to 'rewire' our thoughts, tendencies, habits and instincts.
It means being 'ready-made' for the event of a new encounter without presuming that it will
be comfortable, convenient, safe. In those moments we need to be self-aware and wholly committed
to keeping peace inside and out. Intercultural dialogue is always, all the time, if we think
thoroughly, but too often we dont. Intercultural dialogue can be the revealer of our deepest
doubts, or the gift of having thought beyond what comes 'natural.' The choice is ours to make,
the work is ours to do, but the gift of it is what we share.

Dialogue means to talk to each other on the same level. In intercultural dialogue we can never
be sure that we really speak the same language as the person we talk to. Sometimes it is difficult
to handle this unsureness because it leaves us in an empty space. But if we cross this space,
if continue asking questions, if we constantly try to understand more and more, if we stay
curious and open, then we will reach abundance. We get to know better ourselves and our own
culture and we can understand more of what happens in the world. Life becomes easier and wider.
Art becomes richer and multifarious.

Intercultural dialogue is an opportunity to encounter and to meet another man/woman, who has
different origins, speaks the other langueage to us, who was grown in the other religion, has
different customs to ours. This is also being beside the frontiers of our minds - because
we all are equal.
To bycie ponad granicami umysłów - bo wszyscy jesteśmy równi wobec siebie.

intercultural dialogue is a dialogue with other countries, cultures, helping to understand
your own culture and cutures of others. we begin to think about our culture from another point
of view, when we face up with other people, cultures.

The true wealth of a people lies in their culture, their relationships, their communities
and ways of living. Culture is a manisfestation of our collective mindset and the strides we
have made as a race that is continuosly evolving, in this journey of life. Intercultural dialogue,
to me, is an exchange of this wealth and wisdom that lies within each of our communities.
Whilst sharing this wealth we get to know the other better, as nations, as religions and as
humans. And we appreciate the diversity that we are born with.

Intercultural dialogue is when we live accepting and exchanging knowledge concerning our values,
morals and way of life. A person is his/her culture. A person is a person with the people,
that is, humanity.
