First of all you need a certain interest in foreign expressions of culture. if you are open
minded, respectful and tolerant, you easily meet people who have another cultural background
- next door or across geographical borders. curiosity is another important factor. it makes
you want to experience foreign cultures and become familiar with different cultural habits.
in this way culture can be a tool for initiating interaction. it gives you the opportunity
to realize similarities and differences. Another aspect is learning foreign language. it also
can be seen as intercultural dialogue, because there are often many things 'lost in translation'.
Speaking the same language, even if for one it is not the mother tongue, is one way to experience
and use foreign culture. you get used to informal expressions. and you have to change your
point of view f.e. if you make jokes or like to use proverbs.

The real intercultural dialogue happens only in a personal and emotional sphere. Although
it is possible to be realized even at the non-personal level, in the real sense, it is realized
only through love. To love someone who is different, means to realize intercultural dialogue.
